Youth Changing the World through STEM

Are you in middle or high school? Interested in STEM and wondering how you can make a difference in your community and the world? Are you a youth educator or leader looking for ideas to engage youth and build leadership skills through STEM programming?

Hear from Wisconsin youth who have been inspired through afterschool programs to become STEM leaders:

  • Meet Evie, who has designed robots, is a leader in Girl Scouts and started Greendale Robotics - a non-profit providing STEM camps and classes for youth
  • Meet Mairin, who is working on solar energy solutions, mentors younger girls and created a Women in STEM club, as well founded and coaches middle school math teams
  • Learn about the STEM resources of the Million Girls Moonshot and the Wisconsin Out of School Time Alliance
  • Share your experiences and ideas for engaging youth in STEM and empowering them to change the world!

Peer to Peer Networking Calls for 21CCLC Programs

Networking calls are a virtual place to interact with your colleagues who hold 21st CCLC grants to problem solve, share resources and successes, and connect with peers across the state of Wisconsin.  Come and share your thoughts and ideas on how to make these networking calls a rewarding experience for YOU.

QPR Suicide Prevention Training

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Join us for this youth focused training session. Three separate training times are available:

Communities of Practice for 21CCLC Programs: Sustainability Planning and Implementation

The Community of Practice series is an opportunity for participants to connect with other grantees, learn components of sustainability and develop a strong plan for implementation.  Large discussion will take place once a month on variety of sustainability topics and individual technical assistance is available to individual grantees.

Summer Day Camp Call

Join us for a networking call to continue the conversation around quality summer programming we began as part of the Track 4 Director - YoungStar 101 cohort. This is an open format call designed to help answer any questions that may have come up as we gear up for summer camp season and provide a space for resource sharing.

Using Storylining for Out-of-School Time STEAM Programming

Are you interested in leading hands-on STEAM activities during Out-of-School Time? Curious about what resources are available but unsure where to start? Then this webinar is for you! Join Bernie Traversari - STEAM Education Consultant with the Wisconsin Afterschool Network - for an interactive workshop where you will learn how to craft simple STEAM activity curriculums using storylining techniques and take advantage of the multitude of online resources available to prepare your individual activities. You will also have a chance to engage in small-group discussions and explore ways to modify activities to fit your needs - including age group, time limitations, and budget. No past experience in STEAM needed!
